My girlfriend and I absolutely love sushi. We frequent this Genki location since it is nearby. However, it seems that over the last few years, the customer service has steadily declined. They are very polite and nice people, but they are very slow and many times have forgotten an order or mixed it up. This may be attributed to a high worker turnover rate but in any case, there isn't a good excuse to waiting a few minutes with no wait staff present. Like all places, prices continue to rise and the portions seem to shrink. I still enjoy the veggie croquet and spicy ahi.

orders i made took for ever and it was slow and the water some new guy took ower order and for got about it cuase some other lady came over and took it again

Genki is my family's go-to restaurant for sushi because it's cheap and convenient, and the food quality and service reflects this. I've never had huge complaints about any particular aspect of my customer experiences here, but I have nothing notable to say about it either. The food is your average sushi stuff - nothing special. The service is inconsistent: some days they're hovering, some days they forget you're there. Today's experience was poor. The food was good enough, but several dishes took quite some time to come out and, when my family and I were ready to take the check, we went unattended for a long while. As far as a good time to come to this place, there's a give-and-take. All the great stuff comes out around 5pm on the belt, but that's also when the restaurant starts to fill in, with waiting times upward of thirty minutes.

Dinner time! Prefer this location better than than waikele, No waiting in line! When it was time to pay and They have these comment inserts, It looked like it has been stepped on,etc... It looked disgusting, I wonder what else they re-use?!?

Hey everyone!!!! If you love sushi, Genki Sushi Ewa is the place to go! They have the best Spicy Ahi, they are quick, and they are friendly. I have been coming here for years and I never had a problem with this Genki's, but I have had a few bad experiences with other ones. They may have gotten expensive, but I promise that it's worth it! :)

One weekend I had an insane craving for sushi, so we were faced with the decision: go to Waikele genki where there is always a line and we have never been disappointed or try out Ewa Beach Genki which is literally down the street and always looks empty (which can be a bad sign). We opted for trying out the Ewa Beach location. We got there about 1:30p on a Saturday and there was like one other booth in there. At first, I was excited that we didn't have to wait or sit with our little one at the conveyor belt bar, but after being seated in a booth, it was clear that there wasn't anything good on the line. I thought that it was kind of weird because we weren't too outside the lunch timeframe, I felt like they should still have some good stuff on the line. No biggie. Our waitress was quick with the drinks and being the only other table in the restaurant, we were able to order very quickly. All of our orders came out pretty quickly, but shortly after having a few of the ahi varieties, it was clear that it wasn't a very good cut of ahi. At first I thought that it was just that one sushi that was chewy and had a lot of tough "tendons" in it, but after the 3rd sushi plate with ahi in was like that it was clear that the restaurant just had some junk ahi. Normally, my husband and I can stack up those plates like nothing but I think we ordered like 5 or so plates less. When you are paying $5 for a plate and the ahi portion of the sushi is lacking, it just doesn't seem appealing. The taste in everything was pretty much there. We got somen which was fresh and tasty, and my baby got some fries which didn't have a lot of salt on it (thankfully), and I tried this new strawberry soda which was good but I wouldn't recommend at $3 a pop (you're better off getting a 6 pack of Diamond Head soda). Nothing was too spicy or too salty or anything like that. So the only bad thing about this place was the quality of the tuna. I can't really speak for any of the other fish types as almost all the sushi dishes we had contain tuna or imitation crab. I definitely appreciate not having to wait in line, and the fast and friendly service we received, but I left this place still wanting. I doubt that we will be back to satisfy a sushi craving again. Maybe when we are looking for something to eat on the weekends and don't want to go far or deal with the crowds. If I do, I will update again because maybe it was just a bad batch of tuna we got that weekend.

I guess if you are craving sushi this place is okay. It's not the worse sushi I've had but it is certainly not the best. It's just okay. The staff is okay, the sushi is okay, the prices are okay. It's just okay. If you want better everything go some place else.

Location: They are located at the Ewa Beach Shopping Center next to Starbucks and Subway. There are a lot of parking at this shopping center. Food: They have a wide variety of sushi but the selection on the belt is minimal. It's best to order what you want instead of waiting for it to come on the belt. The amount of fish they give on the sushi isn't as much as other places. My family loves ordering the platters for special occasions. Price: The price is more (around $0.50-$1.50 more) compared to other conveyor belt sushi restaurants. Service: The service is quick and attentive. Ordering out takes 5-10 minutes and 15-30 minutes for the platter. It doesn't take long for orders when you done in. Discount: They offer military discounts Monday thru Thursday. Overall, I'm glad there is a sushi place in Ewa Beach. It's better than grocery store sushi.

Strike 1-no alcohol. Strike 2-cannot byob. Waitress comes to take our order (not gonna take from the belt because who knows how long the food has been going around and around for?) and we get our food pretty quickly. I order the spicy ahi bowl and first bite into it, I notice rice is warm. Wtf!?!?. Get my natto hand roll, warm again like it's a fricken musubi. Was hungry so decided screw it, I'll order another roll for the road. Still writing this review, still no waitress.

It's a small Genki's sushi, 13 seats at counter, 7 booths. It gets really busy sometimes but so far whenever I have come in, not that busy. Looks like about 2-4 servers on shift, so you get the attention needed. I love the food, it can get pricey but I think its worth it since it taste fresh & since its close to home. The customer service is awesome! Love coming back here. Bryant is my favorite server & manager.

  • A A.

First off, we were told there was going to be a fifteen minute wait and there was a party ahead of us. We waited then saw two parties get seated before us. Sat down and waited five minutes before getting service. It was inexcusable to get passed over then get shitty service. We were only given a 10% discount off our bill. The food on the belt was cold and unappetizing, especially the fried food like the kaarage chicken and garlic chicken. Never coming back here again.

  • Mallory T.

The fast food version of sushi. Cheap ish prices, but equally cheap taste. Would rather pay more for something better tasting. Just another example you pay for what you get.

  • Jon L.

The only thing bad here is it is usually busy. Always ono and fast with a good selection of items. Belly up to the conveyor belt and start stackin dem plates! Friendly staff too!

Good service. Never a long wait. Food comes fast. Food tastes good. Overall, it's always a good experience for me & my family. (We go here about once a week).

  • Nikki U.

Came to this location because it wasn't as busy as the others (Waikele/pearl city). But the service is bad and this location has this.. uncomfortably unclean feel to it.... There were people waiting for food and for servers. I dont even know what they were doing half the time. It took forever for them to take our order, to refill waters, and even for our check. I would rather wait 45 minutes to an hour at another location than to come here ever again.

Perfect meal to start our easter day. Perfect customer service. The elder lady making the sushi was very quick even while busy. She did an amazing job. Also the ladies taking orders were on it especially with the refills.

Updated review (9/4/15): Fish isn't as fresh, presentation and taste was awful. And chicken karaage should DEFINITELY NOT be black. ____________________________________ Good service. Good food. If you want authentic Japanese food, this isn't it. But this does satisfy the craving. Waiters and waitresses are always helpful and attentive at this location. I suggest going when it isn't busy. 4 stars because of the obvious price hikes. When in the world did Chiken Karaage get to be $4?! And when did a simple dish like Tekka Maki get to be $3?!

  • Skyle C.

Bad service!!! They dont give you water or tea at all unless you open your mouth! Never come back here again

Came in this afternoon, ordered a few things thru our waiter which included fried items. When we received our order and noticed that our kabocha tempura and potatoe fries were on the warm/cold side. Informed the waiter if she knew our fries items were cold and she said she got it from the back. I requested for a new one, my daughter got fried mandoo from the rolling belt and it was cold. I can't believe it's even served. All they could say was sorry and they didn't even comp the fries we were charged. I'm never going back there.

My boyfriend & I love Genki. We always eat there. We usually have to wait to get seated which takes about 20 minutes. We see big groups of people being seated before us so I ask the lady at the check in counter to see how long more the wait is & she tells me "You have 4 people in front of you." Um...okay. So how long more is my wait? We had to wait an extra 20 minutes. After a while, we see 4 empty seats at the counter. It just irritates us because we see 2 empty seats and we want to just seat ourselves. We get seated about 40 minutes after we checked in. I chose two stars because overall, our food was good but just to be seated is the longest part & some of the employees there seem flustered during the Friday dinner rush.

  • Ben B.

Great place for quick sushi. wish there was a little more fish, less rice. Never have had to wait in line at this location. I think this place is really 3 stars across the board from service to food to prices.

  • Dustin S.

Have been to the one in Kapolei numerous times and it's awesome!! The one here sucks. Ordered off the menu very clearly and when people started bring us plates I was like wtf is that? 4 for 9 on correct food plates. Then to top it off I went home and bam food poising set in very fast. I will never go to this place again. Oh by the way props for the pregnant server!! She was working the hardest and corrected all of the wrong items our first waitress managed to screw up.

    (1)
  • Vanessa T.

Crappy service! And the person who makes sushi in the middle had to take our order cos we waited so long and she felt sorry.

  • James L.

Since I've first eaten at Genki I've been a fan of this place. Then, the prices were cheaper, now it's beginning to go up. But no doubt, good food for not bad of prices.

  • Cheyrelle S.

I come here if I don't wanna wait for sushi bay's long lines. At first, you're greeted. And they are quick to take your order when you first sit, BUT THATS IT. Don't expect fast service after that... My bf and I been here about 5 times, and after the last experience, never again. Two managers were on duty. Towards the end of our meL, we ordered one last dish, and told the waitress we were done after this and would like the check. We waited 25MINUTES. We stepped outta the booth, sat in the "waiting area" for 15 min till one of the managers noticed. Upon going there, the lady manager said thank you and what do you know?! STARTS CLEANING OUR TABLE ASSUMING WE PAID. Really bad neglect for her customers and restaurant. I should have walked out with a free meal. **** this place

    (1)
  • Alexis J.

Kind of upset. When we got there, just the booths were filled, which left us with the whole counter to ourselves. Our only black plate was a dragon roll. After 2 reminders and 30 minutes, it still never came out, so we just cancelled it. The excuse was that "there's a new guy in the back in training." Other than that, everything was good. 3 stars because I love my dragon rolls. Don't mess with my dragon rolls.

Went in around 5PM today. This Genki Sushi was not busy, only my party and about 3 others were in the restaurant. We were seated immediately and got to sit in a booth as requested. The customer service was good but not great. My sister ordered her items and I just ordered a Stuffed Mushroom. I did not like how I had to wait a little over 30 minutes for my Stuffed Mushroom to arrive. My sister got her order in about 10 minutes or less and as I waited for my Stuffed Mushroom, I ordered 2 other plates to ease my hunger as I waited. The 2 plates I ordered afterwards came faster than my first order. I was still waiting on my first order, hoping someone would pass by and set it on the table. I did like how the servers checked on us numerous times. I did get to enjoy my Stuffed Mushrooms when I got them, but I devoured them as I felt I was waiting too long despite it being the first thing I ordered. Genki Sushi is great for me because I don't eat much and the cost is pretty reasonable. I usually don't spend more than $20 here. Overall my experience was okay. I will be back, probably during its hours when they aren't busy. I do hope I get my food quicker than anticipated the next time around.

Love the spicy tempura roll!! Friendly staff and fast turn around even on the crazy busy days!!

  • Miguel L.

Well I was first here with my family a few nights ago when we were waiting for our table. After a 30 minute wait, the host said we'd be the "very next" party to sit. Not what happened - two parties were called and it took me to walk up and ask. We were bypassed and no apology was offered. We just left without ever eating. A few days later I decided to give this place another shot to be disappointed once again. Unacceptable service. Sat for 15 minutes before our drink order was taken. I ordered some rolls to find the fried shrimp was from lunch which made the rolls chewy. There is no pride with the workers here. I think the owner should have secret shoppers here so that he can see for himself. I will definitely not EVER come here again. I'd rather drive to Kapolei and eat at Kazoku Sushi.

  • Riss R.

Love it here for fast good sushi. Service is always on it and so friendly, every time! Love the dynamite scallop, light mayo. I go there weekly!

Pretty cool I love the way the food comes whatchamacallit the video to see. Service is ok it's kinda nice

    (3)
  • Jonathan S.

I ordered take-out and I think I got sick from the spicy ahi bowl because the rice was warm and maybe spoiled the spicy ahi that was on top. If I ever order take out again, I know to ask for the rice and ahi to be separated. I'm sure it happens with the poke bowl or anything else with warm rice. Service is ok. Not top speed here. Usually I never have to wait long for a seat or booth here. Overall, just okay.

  • Mike J.

These evil heartless bastards wouldn't give me a cup of water to help a man who passed out in the parking lot. They not only refused to give me the cup of water but they also belittled me in front of everybody in the restaurant for asking. I don't know why would people who serve food for a living feel like they are better than anybody else but I will never spend another dime in their restaurant. The guy was okay thanks to help provided by the starbucks next door.

  • C D.

We have been coming here since they opened. We always get out of control and order any kine stuff, but the ones that we really like is the kamikani tempura, and spicy tuna. Wish they still had the spicy won ton. Bring it back! The service is always good when we go. We will be going there when sushi is on the mind then in the stomach. Oh yah!

  • F G.

Horrible service....and too damn slow! For reals one guy making sushi and 1 guy bussing tables and the one guy seating people and giving the water. I can go sushi bay at lunch, wait 20 min for my table and still be out under an hour! Not at this genki! We are never coming here on our lunch hour again. They need to go to sushi bay and take some pointers of fast efficient service! Sorry just sayin.....

  • Jenna S.

This Genki is meh. I only come here if I'm really lazy to drive anywhere else. The service here is spotty - the waitress was taking our order then decided to seat people midway through, and suprise our food came out wrong. We ordered chicken wings then got karaage chicken, it took a while for it to come out so as soon as she set it down I asked my mom if we ordered it, I guess she overheard and took it away without saying anything - then brought us garlic chicken. Ok? Still wrong! I always get the baked mussels but they didn't taste good at all here.

2nd time at this location and got the worst service ever... I asked to get soy dishes and never got them instead I had to use a plastic topper from another sauce container and I ordered only 3 items off the menu and only received 1.... I'm a server myself and I'm not a very complicated customer but DAMN they need to work on customer service FOR REAL!!!

  • Ernest P.

I'm new to island and have been to two other Genki's... They all were great until I came here: I sat there for 35 minutes waiting on a rainbow roll which never came. My drink Was never refilled. After 40 minutes, I paid for my tea and walked out. HORRIBLE, non-existing customer service. Good Service at this location is definitely a rare luxury!

This Genki is located in the Ewa Town Center next to Starbucks. Most of the staff is young just like all the other Genki Sushi. Food takes some time. There is usually a wait especially on the weekend. A bunch of times when my family came in they were out of items like Ahi so call ahead to ask what they are out of. Out of all the Genki Sushis this is my favorite. For some, reason the sushi here tastes alot better and the toppings are not as sparsed as other ones ive been too. I went to the Waikelevone and was disappointed. I promise to come back to the ewa one again. The staff is the best.

My wife and I have been going here for 6 years. They have the best teriyaki chicken bowls of all the genki's. no breading and a lot of teri sauce. also, some of the friendliest staff and quickest turn arounds on food orders. I;ve been to several other locations, but this is by far our favorite.

Back again for some fast food sushi! Spicy bomb and string bean tempura my favs. We got here when they opened at 11 am. Seated right away and this place fills up pretty fast. Service good as usual. Bathroom is nice and clean only one though gotta share. lol Also had the ahi nigiri and garlic ebi nigiri.

the food is good. the customer service is what stinks every time we/i come. there have been times when its not busy at all (few customers) and it take 10-15 min for me to get water. Ive seen them play with their phones, talk about their weekend, stare into space.

  • Jake V.

Nice place to come for a quick meal or snack. Come at the right times Cus it gets busy quick. Servers are nice and they are quick. Area is clean and so is the restroom. Not a bad experience at all. I would go back again.

  • Michelle T.

This is my first time coming to this location. The selcetion isnt as big, but there are a lot of types of sushi's to select from. I came here right after work with my boyfriend and it wasn't as busy. The servers were great! Right up until more and more people started coming in. My waitress passed me almost three times before she came to take my order. Other than that we left full and satisfied! Over all it was a okay experience eating here. Pros: Clean with lots of elbow room if you are planning on sitting at the bar, insead of a booth. Cons: Service may slow down if there are a lot of people come in.

I don't know why I don't come here more often, being that I live in Ewa Beach and all lol. I usually go to the Waikele location. The parking is pretty crazy. As I've mentioned in other reviews, I catch the bus lol. When you enter, you are greeted by the staff. It's funny because it sounds more like they're yelling at you rather than welcoming you :P I've never had to wait for more than 15 minutes for seating. I like that :D I love the option of picking things up from the food belt or ordering it to ensure it's freshness! I usually order chicken karaage and spicy bombs fresh :D The prices are reasonable, just be mindful! It adds up lol! I like that they have desserts! I love the ice waffle lol I will be sure to start coming here more often :D

Not sure what's going on tonight, but they're not busy and I still had to wait foreeeeeeveeerrr for my daughter's miso soup and my soft shell crab roll. My hamachi had bones in it and skin attached and looked old. Not a good sign. Waitress was nice enough,I think they might be having an off night. Let's hope so.

I've been to many Genki Sushi locations on the island of Oahu and based on all my experiences, Ewa Beach Genki Sushi is my number one location; Waikele coming in second. Specials are always easy to see, sushi choices are great, prices are reasonable, and the service is exceptional. We've became regulars to this location and every time we've gone there, they treat us no different to any other customer. Some of my favorite dishes to order are: - Spicy Tuna Bowl - Salmon Karaage - Crab Tempura - Kanikama - Ebi Fry (Try them out!) One negative I would like to point out is parking; because this Genki Sushi is located in a shopping center, parking is limited. It gets pretty crowded but worth the wait.

Yelp 365 Challenge #74/365 I'm a big fan of Ninja Sushi but our friends talked me and my honey into going to Genki Sushi with them and their children. So, we dragged our children as well. Mind you, all our kids are young adults minus their youngest daughter who is 7 years old. This Genki Sushi location is within the Ewa Town Center and the parking is pretty good for the restaurant especially if you need to go to Longs or Foodland afterwards. Dessert? There is Orange Tree! Anyhow, they shared they liked eating at Genki's BUT it was pretty pricey for them. I found out the reason why... Different colored plates means different prices Yellow = $1.50 Red = $2.80 Green = $2.20 Gray = $3.80 Black = $4.80 And by each of our friends as we ate...the plates got higher...and higher...like a beauuutiful colored rainbow... I think because it was our first experience...for our family? We paid less than $25 for a party of FIVE and its because my twins are picky eaters while my daughter chose the spicy tuna and my husband chose the poke bowl. For myself? I love inari sushi and the garlic chicken. Throw in some edamame and I'm relaxed. If I had to choose between Genki Sushi and Buffets? I most likely would choose Genki because it wouldn't be a waste of food for me since the portions are just right for me to where I can moderate and watch what I eat.

My 3 p.m. lunch on a Friday at this Genki location left a bad taste in my mouth, but I was full for a good price and was happy to see new menu items. Genki is to sushi as McDonald's is to cheeseburgers. There's nothing remarkable about any of the Genki locations, (except maybe that some serve beer) and there's never anything to be really disappointed by, too. However, there are subtle differences between Genki locations in quality, service, and menu selection. I've visited many Genki locations many times and the food is always acceptable or good for the price. This Genki location featured a lot of new menu items. I tried a few. I'm a very big fan of ama ebi, which Genki calls botan ebi. The fried heads of the shrimp didn't taste that great. I'm not sure if it was low quality shrimp, if it was not cooked well enough, or if the shrimp was old, but it was not a pleasurable experience, especially for $7.50. The shrimp tails were fine, but I had to drown the heads in shoyu and wasabi just to get them down my throat hole. Everything else I had on this day was acceptable or good for the price. I was very happy with the addition of tako yaki to the menu. The service almost always sucks at Genki, but that's what happens when you have a crew of 17-year-olds who are trying to prioritize other peoples' needs while developing critical thinking skills with no manager visible. Keep in mind, I don't expect great service when I visit McDonald's, either. The server told us he'd be back in a minute after we said we needed a bit more time to decide what to order. We couldn't find him for 10 minutes after we decided what to order, and the other servers were busing tables or engaged in helping others. I was in a conversation with someone, and we were curious what the red sauce is called that is served with oysters, typically at barbecues. I decided to ask an employee on the off chance that one of them has been to a barbecue with oysters and the typical red sauce. I was expecting a "No, I'm not sure." Me: "Excuse me, you know when you eat oysters? What's the red sauce called that's usually served with it?" Male server: "You mean the mussels?" Me: "Uh, no, oysters." Male server: "We don't serve oysters." Me: "Yah, but do you know what the red sauce is called?" Male server: "Do you know what the red sauce is called that's served with the mussels?" Female server: "We don't serve red sauce with the mussels. Are you talking about the fried mussels?" Me: "No, you know when you eat oysters at a barbecue or something and they serve red sauce with it? What's that red sauce called?" Female server: "We don't serve oysters." Me: "I know, I was just wondering if you knew what the sauce was called." Male server: "Yeah, if we don't serve it here, we wouldn't know anything about it." Me: "..." A simple no would have been just fine.

Love those sushis! Right in the middle of Ewa Beach with plenty of parking to spare this place has the right stuff to fill those stomachs with their tasty morsels. A customary greeting by the staff after walking through their doors you can either go to the counter and order a to go meal or be seated in a booth right next to the conveyor belt and start grabbing whatever plate you see and like. Now here are my pros and cons to this place. Pros: -The food here are all pretty good - Staff are friendly - Not always crowded/full Cons: - They are little pricey - Slow to make to go trays Yelp 365 Challenge - #011/365

I don't really go to Genki Sushi that often. I remember going a lot during college with friends after school and other extra curricular activities and such. I came her with my co-workers. I was surprised that they didn't really have anything in the conveyer belts. Some had the actual real food, most of which is just salad and edamame soybeans. Everything else is just for order and we had menus right in front of us along with a Waiter to take our order. This was quite unusual because back in the day they always had the food on the conveyer belts and we just grab um and eat um. We asked the Waiter why this was so and he said because it was pretty slow and they want to keep the food fresh so it was understandable. My favorites at Genki are the spicy tuna bowl, spicy tuna roll, ikageso, chicken kareage, edamame, and probably some others. The staff and customer service was good. The prices were ok, still way more than back in the day in my opinion. I didn't have too much on my plates. I remember back in the day, it used to be stacks upon stacks upon stacks. The green tea ice cream for desert was pretty good. This Genki is conveniently located right in the shopping plaza area and there is parking right in front of the restaurant.

Genki in ewa..what can i say...not great at all..if you show a picture at least try to follow it...sushi with out green onions...lack of heart in making sushi.no wonder why more people rather go to kuru kuru.

The staff is nice and pleasant, but the sushi isn't. From the awkwardly incorrect fish cuts on the nigiri, to the freshness and quality of the fish used, there's much better sushi to be had. I sometimes take this over Safeway's Hybrid sushi (when Safeway's just sounds so heavy), but my preference is to go to Kazoku's in Kapolei. I'm sure there are nights where this place has better chefs, but the few times I went there, I left very much unimpressed.

  • Ash M.

Employes are tentative, portions are smaller now and the quality isn't so great. The extra ten minute commute to Kapolei Sushi Bay would have been more worthy.

Who doesn't love sushi! Cleanliness : 5/5 Food preps wear gloves. They seem legitly clean. No complaining here. Service : 5/5 Seated in a timely manner. Workers are extremely nice. Food : 4/5 Food is good, but I guess it varies on whose Preping it.

I love Genki but this isnt my favorite location...they dont make the mushroom poppers here...sad face!!! But they got us seated in a timely manner and had our orders to us in a flash! Employees were checking on our drinks and if we wanted to order anything else, it was truely pleasant!

Food not bad for conveyor style sushi. I eat there 3-4 times a week. Customer service is outstanding. Especially server "Royce". Very friendly atmosphere. Just remember to bring a jacket cuz it's cold as hell in there.

This place isn't too bad. I really enjoy coming here for a quick lunch date with my husband! It's a great place to just stop by - and it's incredibly convienent if you're in Ewa Gentry! Located by Subway in the same parking lot as Foodland, there is yet another Genki Sushi location here in Ewa Beach. You have your standard Genki fare - the bowls, rolls, and of course - spicy ahi! Okay, so that last part didn't quite rhyme... but we all know we love Genki's spicy ahi! I always enjoy eating here with my husband because we can eat cheap, decent sushi with pretty good service. The waiters and waitresses have always been pretty good at asking if we want to order off the menu and refill our waters. Now to make my 'recommendations'. First off, check out the board by the front door. It will let you know if they're out of something (sadly, the last few times I have gone it's been the ikageso...). It will also tell you the special of the day! Secondly, if you're coming here during PEAK chow down hours (for both lunch AND/OR dinner) be prepared to sit and wait. This place gets crowded and there is definitely a strong following. If you're willing to go off-peak (like late lunch around 1 or 2), you're garunteed a seat and attentive service. Third, if you want something fried (like ikageso karage, tempura, etc.) I recommend ordering it off the menu. It's garunteed to be crispy and fresh. I made the mistake of going at off-peak hours and not wanting to wait for my fried squid. Big mistake. It was a little soggy and cold... Yuck! That was my fault though - I should have been patient. If you want cheap sushi and good service at a decent price, don't hesitate to stop by. Check out their menu online if you aren't sure. If you know you want to come, don't forget to order your spicy ahi and baked mussels! Yum!

There is nothing like Genki Sushi out there. I love the conveyer belt style and their color coded plates system. The choices that they have are always improving for the better. Whenever I'm here I shall have: garlic salmon, spicy tuna, and chicken karaage along with whatever else I feel like eating. The Ewa location is one of the newest ones, hence making it my favorite. The other ones are ok. TIP: Be sure to eat during the regular lunch or dinner hours for those are the times the food are fresh. Avoid going there between the hours of 2-5 ish, they just have the food on the conveyer belt, and it's ugly and tastes nasty. If you do go, just order it, that way you'll have a fresh meal.

The food portions got smaller and they are still the same price. The easiness of the store is still the same: laid back and slow service. I think it's safe to pick off the belt now.

I love this place!!! It's close to home and as often as we eat sushi it's always fresh and yummy!!! The only thing that I wish they had was delivery!!! I love the spicy tuna set and my kids love the genki kids set!! Excellent food, sometimes there's a wait on the weekends to dine in but carry out is always available. I've never had an issue with service here, the staff has always been attentive. My only reccomendation is not to go there after 8pm...it's hit or miss with the selection on the belt and usually takes much longer. Apparently they like to clean up early...

I ate at this establishment a few days ago with a few friends and our experience there was quite smooth with one small incident. The waiter told the sushi maker that we wanted two plates of spicy tuna. We waited for quite a while (we were almost done) and we finally told them that we didn't get it. When we finally got our plate, I noticed that they placed it on a yellow plate. I'm glad that they gave us a semi-discount. Wished they would keep forgetting so I can pay cheaper for sushi :) In terms of the quality of food, it's the same as any other genki's. My favorite sushi here is the spicy tuna. Some days I go in, the color is bright red, other days, the color of the tuna is pale. I don't know if they are using old tuna. When I eat at any genki's I also order my calamari. This place is one of the few that don't run out of calamari. There was only one time that they did. I've noticed though (and this goes for all genki's I've visited) that the portions have gotten smaller. I've eaten here multiple times and during those visits had no problems whatsoever. The workers are always there refilling and asking what else we needed/wanted. If I am in Ewa and I have cravings for sushi, I will visit this Genki establishment.

I've always had a good experience as long as friends are working. Sushi is always prepared pretty quickly and as long as the salmon is good, good. When friends aren't working it's hard to get someone to acknowledge you've walked in. It's not like the other Genkis. It's also smaller but there was never a time when I didn't get a seat.

First, let me start by saying that I have been patroning Genki Sushi at their various locations ever since they opened up here in Hawaii. I do know what good vs bad sushi at Genki is, and I must say that the Ewa Genki is definitely lacking. It lacks in customer service, efficiency, attentiveness, freshness and my scallop mayo sushi (which I get all the time) was pathetic in portion. There was barely any scallops on my rice and there was barely any mayo mixed into it either. It was dry and not worth the price they charge. My boyfriend ordered a teri-chicken bowl and a spicy bomb. The waiter brought my stuff out first while my boyfriend waited and waited for his two items. I saw a couple near by get two teri-chicken bowls, when finally a waiter comes up to us and says, "sorry we're out of Teri chicken." I said, "ok, but where's his spicy bomb?" My boyfriend was so annoyed, we just paid for my stuff and left. Also, all the previous times we have come here no one greets us at the door or tells us how long the wait will be. A couple times we just stood there with our thumbs up our asses then decided to leave and go to Chili's instead. Lame. And it wasn't even crowded! They take for-ever to do anything at this Genki. I will never go to the Ewa Genki again. PS: I had to give them one star because you can't give no stars (or else I would have).

Walked in here and the first thing I come into where sticky floors. They really need to mop the floors here. Lots of booths to eat at. The portions are small and a lil overpriced. Overall ok to get your sushi fix on.

I live about a minute away from here and my fluffy boyfriend is a sushi lover. Because he loves Genki and Sushi its the most convient for us to go to. First off the wait it awfully long every damn time I go here when it aint even crowded! Yeah the workers are nice and all but damn they need to get their shit together ASAP! The food looks old and dry. They don't come around to re-fill your water unless you have to flag their asses down and their prices are hella whack for fake ass sushi. I can buy a filling musubi at 7/11 for the price they charge here.

Was already waiting but one of there employees came in (guess they were off that day) n got seated as soon as they walked in (as if they had res. Or something) !! N whats worse is that the workers jus casually turned to me n said oh sorry, forgot there was a waiting list!!! Hell no!! Plus the food is old n they take forever!!

Genki is the third tier of value sushi. It goes something like this 1. Kuru 2. Ninja, Sushiman 3. Genki I though the service and the sushi were just OK. The ahi poke here is kind of funny. They meat they use is really pale compared to regular poke that you see around. I think they are using the junk part of the fish, or are using another type of tuna besides yellow fin. Maybe big eye? The spicy ahi here is not bad. Something I really like here is the spicy tempura roll. It is a regular tempura roll with spicy ahi and sweet sauce on top. It is Genki's saving grace.

i love genki sushi!!!! this is a must visit every time i come to hawaii! at least two to three times. or four. or five times.....a day. genki is cheap and delicious. i would go into what you should specifically get.... except. EVERYTHING IS AWESOME. not sure if there's a lot of other kaitensushi places that are this cheap and convenient on oahu, but it doesn't really matter because i probably wouldn't go there anyways. haha

Genki Sushi is the pinnacle of mediocrity. It seems that the menu selection in the Ewa Beach area is smaller than other Genki Sushi restaurants on the island, and the seating is fewer, although it kind of gives the place a cozy feeling. There's something about this one's food that just tastes... off.

We're visiting from California and staying at the Ko Olina Resort. We wanted sushi for lunch and this was the closest place. The place was busy for lunch and so it took awhile till we were seated. There are plates of food, drinks, and snacks floating along w a price tag. They charge per plate and they're four different colored plates so four different prices. Everything on the floating line is cold so if you want something hot must order from the waiters. Even so the rolls are ok. Nothing special. It was lunchtime and busy so we always had to flag our waitress down to order. But once we did the food came quick. I don't like that we have to leave all the empty plates on our table stacked up to be counted at the end. The tables are narrow and not a lot of room. And the wasabi was on the float line so every time u need it you have to wait for it to float by, otherwise you should start off with a big heap and leave it on your table. Overall food was ok I've definitely had better sushi even at sushi buffets.

This place is so over priced! Nothing special about it, it's freezing cold in there so take a sweater (as it should be its a sushi place) I've been there a few times for convenience. I'd rather go to foodland and buy some poke, make some rice at home and dig in with some seasoned seaweed and for ALOT cheaper i have a meal thats just as good. I will say i enjoy the crab stuffed mushrooms and spicy ahi, but i agree with other yelpers and say the portions have gotten smaller than they were a couple years ago.

IRRASHAIMASU!!! Don't worry, the workers at Genki are not yelling at you to close the door because you're letting the cool air out, they're just giving you a warm welcome, Japanese style. This place is usually very busy so make sure you put your name on the wait list as soon as you get there. Customers usually move quickly in and out so you won't have to wait for very long. I've never had to wait for more than 15 minutes. However, if you're impatient or in a rush, you can call ahead and get your favorites as take out. I'll be the first to admit that food parading around a restaurant on a conveyor belt doesn't sound so delish but Genki has definitely grown on me. If freshness is a concern for you or if the guy in the booth next to you just snatched up your favorite item from the moving display, just flag down the nearest server and order directly from the menu. There are a variety of items to choose from and the plates are color coded according to their prices. New menu items are constantly being created and they have a variety of daily specials so there is always something new to try. My personal favorites are the udon, onion salmon, spicy ahi, and ahi poke. Beware the desserts because once you try them, you'll be wanting to eat more and more. The mochi ice cream, red velvet cupcakes, and peanut butter cupcakes are winners!! Until next time...... Sayonara!!

Although we could not eat much, since our family member passed away. We are able to order fresh sushi, although neta(sashimi part of sushi) is smaller than Kuru kuru sushi, much fresher than kuru kuru. The manager was very precisely cared of customers. Military discount and uni are the ones Genki has and kurukuru does not. Since I live in Ewa Beach, I will go back again.

I've started to like this place. The workers are really nice and the portions size (for take-out) is good. Hehe I only order take out. The amount of meat for the kalbi bowl is pretty small compared to the gigantic rice that is 10xs as much -____-. I like the string beans and spicy tuna they are my favorite. Just don't by the poke bowl. The fish looks nasty and old.

I love this place! Sushi is pretty good. The customer service is always good. Sometimes it gets pretty busy, but the wait is never too long. The one in pearl city is horrible!.. We moved to pearl city, and we always go to the ewa genki instead. The peatl city one needs a new belt because it creeks, its really annoying. The bar seats aren't comfy, n the customer service isn't great either.

The last time I ate at this location, I went around 7 p.m. and I didn't have to wait too long for a booth. Service here has been slow the past several times I had come here. Servers would walk by the table often and didn't bother to ask if we needed to order anything or if we wanted more water. by the time it hit 8 p.m. (they closed at 9pm), they sushi chef already cleaned up the middle part where he'd make sushi nigiri for orders and the belt & when me and my friend wanted to order something, they just automatically said they were out just so the guy wouldn't have to make our sushi. They never did a last call and there was still customers coming into the restaurant to eat.

My opinion of the Ewa Beach Genki has changed since the first time I ate there. Not by much, but it has slightly improved. It's the closest Genki to my house, so I decided to give it a try. The first time couple times I ate there, it was terrible. The place was almost empty, which I thought was great at first. No body else to compete with for food. But even with only 3 tables to service, the service was crappy. After ordering out food, we waited 20 minutes to even get anything. Granted, there was only one sushi chef. But still; it's not like there were a lot of orders. Also we didn't even get all of the food we ordered. Out of the 6 things we ordered, we only got 4 of them. I got so tired of waiting; I just started getting things from the belt. Which wasn't much, and it looked like it was standing out way too long. I would have complained to the waitress, but she was nowhere to be found. Which must have been magic because the place is hella small, there's no place to hide. Most of the time, she was in the kitchen. Then when she did come to the table and I told her about the food and she said that she was going to go get it, it took an even longer time then last time. It was a disaster. The food was ok. The Ahi in the Spice Poke was minced really fine which I don't like. It was more of a spice tuna tartar then a poke. But tasted ok. The other things were really mediocre. The second time I ate there, I decided to give then another try hoping that it was just an isolated incident, but the service was just as bad. After that, I stayed away from that Genki. Then after a couple months had past, I went to the Ewa Beach Genki after some convincing from my friend. This time it was a little better. They had more staff, which made the service a whole lot better. There were more waiters/waitresses and cooks; and there was no lag on receiving the food. The food really stayed the same, so it was still ok. The only best thing is that they have a happy house from 6-7. Some of the more expensive items you can get at the same price as a green plate. It's mostly red plate items like Spice Poke Bowl, but they have some black/grey things too. But you have to come in that happy house time. It's also best to come early. Since the place it really small, they can't serve a lot of people. So when it gets crowded later in the evening, you have to wait a long time. Overall it's just an ok. If you're really hungry and have don't have high expectations, then what the hell go try it. If your hungry and can spare the 5 mins it takes to go to Waikele, then why is this even an option?
